AC Valhalla Hysing The Worldly Wise Decision: The Picts Give Up or Awaken From Their Dream

Among the several NPCs in Assassin's Creed Valhalla is Hysing The World Wise. He will give you a tour of "England" when you meet him on the island northwest of Rygjafylke. After the trip is over, you'll get to meet his kid and have the chance to either grant him his desire or put an end to it.

Whichever choice you choose, you will have to live with the consequences. We have a guide that explains what happens if you lie, surrender, or wake up in AC Valhalla in case you're unsure about the outcome of any option.

Hysing the world wise, Lie Picts: Surrender or Wake From Your Dream

He will flee to the hills when Hysing The World Wise transports you to "Wincestre" and you realize that "King Alfred" is gone. You will find yourself at a camp with a few tents as you begin to pursue him.

There, you will witness an enraged woodsman and a scarecrow, which is King Alfred in the flesh, or rather, straw. You will learn that Hysing is not entirely present after reading the scarecrow's message. Instead, their late wife sent a letter to their son requesting that he take care of his octogenarian father.

The furious woodsman, Djon, is his son, and he is furious because you are encouraging his father's illusions. It's time to make a choice now.

  • (LIE) The Picts surrender  – Eivor will tell Hysam that the Picts are paying tribute if he forgives them and let allow them free passage through your land. Hysam will clam down but his son Djon would not be happy sparing their lives. Eivor will tell him that at least he will know that the old man gets food every day and that someday, maybe, the fog will lift.
  • Wake from your dream – Eivor will tell Hysam that although his fantasy world might be pleasant, there are real people in the real world who care about him. The old man will denounce and dethrone the king for betraying “the people”, then calm down.

Whichever course of action you choose, Djon will accept responsibility for his impolite behavior, and Eivor will reassure him by telling him that, gods willing, what you do is brave and honorable.
